Handheld Wand Detector

The Wand type tag detector (U.S. Patent #5,134,370) is a handheld unit which may be moved in the earth's magnetic field unlike other detectors which must remain stationary. The Wand is designed to operate by passing it or rubbing it over the suspected location of the tag. Its detection range is approximately 3 cm for standard length Coded Wire Tags, 2 cm for half-length tags and 4 cm for one and a half length tags.

 

 

 

  • The wand is approximately 1 pound 3 ounces (539 grams) in weight including the battery; 16 3/8 inches (41.6 cm) long and 2 3/4 inches (7.0 cm) in diameter
  • the smooth Urethene housing is durable, impact resistant and wear resistant
  • the On/Off switch is flush mounted
  • the LED detection indicator is large and bright enough to use in sunlight
  • the audible sonalert provides a loud, noticeable signal
  • the Wand is water-resistant and can be briefly submerged without damage; it floats
  • the battery connection inside the handle is easily serviced by unscrewing the handle end cap
  • the wand is balanced in the hand, making it comfortable for extended periods of use
  • a fabric belt holster is available
  • a dive bag is available for underwater use
