Abstract |
(Summary by NMT) Penney et al. used VIE to tag the common ground skink (Scincella lateralis) and the sand skink (Neoseps reynoldsi). In both cases, all animals survived marking and mark retention and recognition were high. The authors compare VIE marking with branding in terms of safety, reliability, ease of use, and cost. On all points, VIE appeared to be as good as or superior to branding, with the added benefit of long term tag retention. |
